Your Can-Am Defender HD10 is a work tool, and a worn-out steering rack makes every job harder: sloppy steering, wandering on gravel and a clunk in the wheel over every rut. The RackBoss 2.0 rack and pinion is the heavy-duty replacement. Its patented X24 dual-bushing design supports both ends of the rack, cutting wear by more than 50% compared to stock, and it comes with your choice of three tie rod styles.
Highlights
- X24 Tech heavy-duty dual PTFE bushings at both ends of the rack
- Over 50% less wear than OEM after 15,000 cycles
- Reduces slop and improves overall durability
- 65% larger housing than stock
- Grease fitting for the rack gears to purge mud and water
- Inner boots, steering stop kit, misalignment bushings, tie rod studs and hardware included
- Choose swaged steel tube, solid steel bar or billet aluminum hex tie rods
- Patent No. 11,345,393
Why Dual Bushings Matter
Stock racks support the rack bar mainly at one end, so big hits and larger tires lever the bar and wear the gears and bushing quickly. Putting tough PTFE bushings at both ends keeps the rack centered and the gears meshing properly, so steering stays tight and like new much longer. The built-in grease fittings let you push out the crud after hard mud or water rides.
Choose Your Tie Rods
- Steel swaged tube (base price): 7/8" swaged steel tubing for strength without much weight; 16 mm inner ball and sockets with 14 mm rod threads and 16 mm rack threads, and 14 mm outer tie rod ends. Ideal for casual riders upgrading from stock.
- Solid steel bar (upgrade): 1" solid steel rod with 3/4" outer tie rod ends and rebuildable inner ends using 3/4" rod threads and 16 mm rack threads. Made for big tires in slop and boulder fields.
- Billet aluminum hex (top upgrade): polished 6061 billet aluminum, the strongest, lightest and best-looking option, with the same oversized 3/4" outer ends and rebuildable inner ends. For the biggest builds and hardest riding.
Every version includes the X24 dual-bushing design, greaseable rack, inner boots and steering stop kit.
Signs Your Rack Is Worn
- Play in the steering wheel before the tires respond
- Clunking over bumps or when changing direction
- Machine wandering on gravel or pavement
- Torn rack boots or grease leaking from the ends

Maintenance Tips
- Grease the rack fitting after deep mud or water rides to push out contamination
- Inspect the inner boots for tears at every service
- Check tie rod jam nuts and outer ends for play
- Rebuildable inner ends on the solid steel and billet versions can be serviced instead of replaced
A healthy rack also takes stress off your power steering unit, since it no longer has to fight binding gears or worn bushings.
