Width is the secret to a Can-Am Defender HD10 that feels planted on rough ground. This 4" Long Travel Kit adds 4" to each side, 8" overall, for a more aggressive stance, better stability and smoother handling, plus room for tires up to 35". Everything you need is in the box: Atlas Pro A-arms, billet aluminum tie rods and four Rhino 2.0 axles, all built stronger than stock.
Highlights
- Adds 4" per side, 8" overall width
- 1.5" forward offset in the front
- Fits up to 35" tires
- Atlas Pro A-arms: 1.5" tubing, 50% larger than stock
- Four Rhino 2.0 axles included
- Solid 6061-T6 billet aluminum hex tie rods
- Preadjusted pivot blocks for perfect camber
- Preinstalled UHMW bushings
- 7/8" chromoly upper heim joints, PTFE-lined lower monoball joints
- Steering stop kit included, lifetime warranty
Heavy-Duty Atlas Pro A-Arms
The arms use 38 mm OD tubing with 1/4" wall DOM at the shock mounts for maximum strength and 3.5 mm chromoly tubing everywhere else to stay tough and light. A UV-resistant powder coat keeps them looking new, and they carry a lifetime warranty.
Billet Aluminum Hex Tie Rods
When you push harder, steering has to keep up. These stock-length billet tie rods are reinforced with heat-treated chromoly monoball tie rod ends, so the weakest link gets the strength it needs. They're easy to adjust without disassembly and carry a lifetime warranty.
Rhino 2.0 Axles
The wider stance needs longer axles, and the kit includes four Rhino 2.0 axles: 4340 chromoly with a proprietary heat treatment and a larger shaft, designed for high articulation to keep CV temperatures low, with an 18-month warranty.
Optional SDi Terrain Master 2.1 Shocks
Reuse your existing shocks, or choose SDi Terrain Master 2.1 shocks (adds to the price) for better control on big suspension setups:
- Large bore compression adjuster for precise tuning
- Billet aluminum T6 high-flow pistons and piggyback reservoirs
- Quick-adjust preload ring
- All-aluminum construction, hardened chrome shafts
- Lightweight barrel springs, PTFE-lined bearings
- Fully rebuildable
Preinstalled Ball Joint Options
Get the kit with ball joints pressed in for a faster install, or choose to do it yourself and reuse your stock ball joints. Upgrades add to the price:
- Heavy-Duty 4340 Chromoly: 4340 VAR steel, zinc plated, adjustable, greaseable, twice the strength of stock
- Super Duty 300M: adjustable steel-on-steel design, easy-reach grease zerk, 2.25 times stronger than stock
- Keller Performance: two-piece, threads into the arm with no snap ring, nearly impossible to pull out, chromoly stud and tool-steel body, greaseable and rebuildable
What Long Travel Changes
- Stability: 8" of extra width makes the Defender far more planted on side hills and through ruts
- Ride quality: longer arms mean smoother suspension movement and less body roll
- Tire room: up to 35" tires for more clearance and traction
- Steering feel: the 1.5" forward front offset helps tire clearance at full lock
Long Travel vs. 6" Lift
A lift kit is about height and big tires for mud and rocks. A long travel kit is about width, stability and ride quality, with a modest gain in tire size. Many Defender owners who ride fast trails, haul on side slopes or carry passengers choose long travel because the machine feels safer and smoother. It also pairs perfectly with portals if you want height later.
Plan the Whole Build
- Check that your trailer and garage door can handle the wider stance
- Consider power steering with 32"+ tires
- Add the SDi shocks if your stock shocks are worn or you ride aggressively
- Protect the new arms with skid plates and arm guards
- Plan an alignment after installation
Good to Know
Every part ships ready to bolt on, with pivot blocks preadjusted for camber and bushings preinstalled, so most of the work is removing the stock arms and axles and installing the new ones in their place.
Install Overview
Remove the stock A-arms, axles, tie rods and sway bars, then install the new arms, axles and billet tie rods with the steering stops. If you chose SDi shocks, install them with the arms. Choosing preinstalled ball joints saves pressing them in yourself, which is often the slowest part of the job. Torque all hardware to spec and re-check it after the first couple of rides, then set the alignment.
Tip: pick the correct model group before ordering. Limited, Lone Star and XMR models use different parts than other trims, and the shock and ball joint pickers only add parts and never lower the kit price.
