Every Defender owner eventually sinks one in a soft field, a snowbank or a creek bottom, and a winch turns a long walk home into a five-minute fix. This Ready-Fit winch kit for the 2020+ Can-Am Defender HD10 arrives with the winch already mounted to its bracket and pre-wired, so installation is mostly bolting it in and plugging it in.

The Easy Way to Add a Winch
Most winch installs mean building a mount, running cables and crimping terminals. Here the hard part is done: bolt the bracket in, plug in the harness and connect power under the hood. The extended heavy-gauge wiring is long enough for four-seat MAX models.
Which Size?
The 4,500 lb winch handles most 2-seat recoveries. Pick the 6,000 lb winch for a MAX, a loaded bed, a cab enclosure or if you plan to run a snow plow, since it has the gearing and motor for heavier pulls. The 6,000 lb option costs more.
Why Synthetic Rope
Synthetic rope is lighter than steel cable, easier on your hands, floats, and stores less energy if it breaks, which makes recoveries safer. It resists the elements and still has serious pulling strength.
Safe Winching Basics
Stand clear of the rope line, use a tree strap instead of wrapping the rope around a tree, and pull in short bursts to keep the motor cool. Check the rope for frays after muddy or rocky recoveries and rinse grit out of it so it lasts.
