The Can-Am Defender's stock Visco-Lok front differential only locks after a wheel has already spun, and by then you've lost your momentum on the hill, in the mud hole or on the icy lane. This Pin Locker front differential replaces the Visco-Lok internals with electronically actuated pins, giving you true on-demand four-wheel drive that locks the moment you flip a switch and stays locked as long as you need it.

Visco-Lok vs. Pin Locker

• Visco-Lok (stock): wheels have to spin at least one full turn before the clutch pack engages, and it can slip and unlock under load
• Pin Locker: locks both front wheels together with the flip of a switch for consistent power through the whole obstacle

Think grip, not slip: you keep your speed and line instead of digging a hole before the front end helps out.

Cast or Billet Cap

The cast A380 aluminum cap is strong and the value pick. The billet 6061 cap is CNC machined for more strength and consistency, and costs more. Pick yours in the Housing Type option.

When to Lock It

Lock the front diff for steep climbs, deep mud, snow, ice, creek crossings and pulling heavy loads up a slope. Unlock it on pavement, hard-packed gravel and grassy lawns, where a locked front end makes steering heavy and can scuff turf.

Who It's For and What Pairs Well

For Defender owners who plow, haul, hunt or ride mud and want front traction they can count on. A locked front end loads the front axles harder, so pair it with heavy-duty axles from Can-Am Defender axles, plus a prop shaft from Defender drivetrain.

Installation Notes
