This is one of the easier bumpers we sell to install. Everything bolts to existing holes, there's no drilling, and one person can do it. The only part that catches people out is the very first step — the tailgate has to come off, and it doesn't come off the way you'd expect.

Before You Start
Leave every bolt loose until the very last step. The bumper mounts at the bed and the brackets tie into the frame, and those two points need to be able to shift relative to each other while you line things up. Tighten the bed bolts first and the bracket holes won't reach.
For 2027 Polaris dropped the SP 570 name and calls it the Ranger 600. It's the same mid-size machine and this bumper fits both. If you're shopping for a 2027 Ranger 600 rear bumper, you're in the right place.
The dividing line is the frame. Older mid-size Rangers built on the round-tube frame will not take this bumper — those need EMP P/N 10604 instead. Separately, the full-size Ranger 570 is a completely different chassis; same number on the badge, nothing in common back here. If you're not certain which machine you have, send us the year and model before you order and we'll confirm it.

Check Your Hardware
- 1 rear bumper, 2 mounting brackets (left and right — they're mirrored, not identical)
- 4 × 5/16-18 x 1-3/4" carriage bolts, 4 × 5/16-18 nyloc nuts, 4 × 5/16 flat washers
- 4 × 3/8-16 x 1" carriage bolts (black), 4 × 3/8-16 nyloc nuts
- 4 × 1/4-20 x 3/4" hex head flange bolts (black), 4 × 1/4-20 nylon nuts (black)
- 1 × EMP logo sticker
Installation Steps
1 Take the tailgate off
This is the step people get stuck on. The tailgate doesn't lift straight out — you have to open it past 90 degrees, further than it goes in normal use, and at that angle one side will slide off its pin. Then the other side comes free. Set it somewhere it won't get scratched; it goes back on at the end.

2 Find the four existing holes
With the tailgate out of the way, look at the bed where it used to sit. There are four factory holes already there. Nothing needs drilling — if you find yourself reaching for a drill on this install, stop and look again.

3 Hang the bumper on the bed
Mount the bumper to those four holes using the 5/16" carriage bolts, flat washers and nyloc nuts. Snug them by hand and leave them loose — the bumper still needs to move.

4 Sort the brackets before you fit them
The two brackets are handed — one is the driver's side, one is the passenger's, and they're mirror images. The way to tell: the top flanges face in, toward the center of the machine. Hold both up and check before you put a bolt through either one. Getting them swapped is the second most common hang-up on this install.
5 Bolt the brackets in — two different sizes
Each bracket takes two bolts at each end, and the sizes are not the same. 3/8" carriage bolts at the bumper end. 1/4" flange bolts at the vehicle end. Two per side, per bracket. Still nothing tightened.

6 Line it up, then tighten everything
Stand behind the machine and check the bumper sits level with even gaps on both sides. Once it looks right, work through every fastener — bed bolts, bumper end, vehicle end.

7 Put the tailgate back on
Same trick in reverse — hold it past 90 degrees to get the pins started. Then open and close it a few times and dump the bed once to confirm everything clears.

8 Re-check after your first rides
Go back over every bolt after the first ride, then make it a habit. Bolted steel on a machine that gets shaken this hard will find any fastener you didn't fully torque.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
The tailgate won't come off. What am I doing wrong?
You're probably not opening it far enough. It has to go past 90 degrees — further than it swings in normal use — before one side will slide clear of its pin. Nothing needs unbolting.
The bracket holes don't line up with the frame.
Two likely causes. Either you tightened the bed bolts already — back them off and let the bumper move — or the brackets are on the wrong sides. They're mirrored, and the top flanges should face the center of the machine.
Which bolts go where?
5/16" carriage bolts hold the bumper to the bed. 3/8" carriage bolts join the brackets to the bumper. 1/4" flange bolts attach the brackets to the vehicle. If a bolt is fighting you, it's probably the wrong one for that hole.
Do I need to drill anything?
No. Every hole you need already exists. No drilling, no cutting, no welding.
Does the bed still dump?
Yes. Cycle it once after everything is tightened to confirm it clears through full travel.
I have a 2027 Ranger 600. Is this the right bumper?
Yes. Polaris retired the SP 570 name for 2027 and the machine is now called the Ranger 600. Same mid-size platform, same bumper.
Will this fit my older mid-size Ranger?
Only if it's on the newer frame. Older round-tube frame mid-size Rangers need EMP P/N 10604, which we also carry. And if yours is a full-size Ranger 570 rather than a mid-size, neither of these is correct. Send us your year and model and we'll point you at the right one.
