The GDP 6" Portal Gear Lift is a complete performance overhaul for the Polaris RZR XP Turbo S. Six inches of lift at the hubs makes room for tires up to 38 inches on stock suspension, and the built-in gear reduction supplies the torque to spin them. You choose the setup: 30%, 45% or 60% gear reduction, cast or billet aluminum housings, and single or Dual Idler gearing for maximum strength.
Highlights
- 6" of lift at the hubs
- 30%, 45% or 60% gear reduction (60% available with the Dual Idler billet setup)
- Single or Dual Idler configuration
- Cast or billet aluminum housings
- Cool, quiet, precision-ground 9310 alloy billet steel gears
- 1.5" diameter 4340 hardened steel drive shaft
- Advanced 5/16" steel alloy backing plates
- Universal hubs set up for 4/156, 4/137, 4/115 and 4/110 bolt patterns
- Dual Idler adds 1" front and rear offset (2" total extension)

Why Portals Beat a Taller Lift
Lifting the chassis 6 inches with brackets would put the CV joints at steep angles and make them run hot. Portals raise the machine at the hub instead, keeping factory suspension geometry so the CVs stay happy and cool. The gear reduction lives in the hub too, which lightens the load on the axles, differential, prop shaft and transmission so the machine's most important parts last longer.
Dual Idler Strength
Adding a second idler gear inside each portal box spreads the load across twice the gear surface. That means more dependable torque transfer and the strongest gear set available. The pair has to mesh perfectly to share the load, which is why the gears are CNC precision-ground from 9310 steel.
Match the Reduction to Your Riding
| Reduction | Ride style |
|---|---|
| 30% | Fast trail riding where you want to keep speed |
| 45% | Mud and rocks |
| 60% | Massive tires and deep bounty holes where you need the most torque |
A higher reduction gives more torque and a lower top speed; a lower reduction keeps more top end. Picking the right one balances power and speed for the tires you run.
Tire Size Guide
| Tire size | Required setup with 6" portals |
|---|---|
| Up to 38" | Stock suspension |
| 40" | 1.5" forward A-arms |
| 41" | 3" lift kit |
| 43" | 1.5" forward A-arms and 3" lift kit |
Sizes are the largest that fit without rubbing, measured at full compression and full turn. Larger tires can work with minor trimming or a small amount of rub.
Built to Be the Strongest
From the housings to the backing plates, every part is designed for hard riding. Housings are reinforced for gear retention and shaped for oil flow, and the steel alloy backing plates are stronger than chromoly. The boxes have no vents, because testing showed vents do more harm than good. Portal Blood gear oil is formulated for these portals.
Seals and Bearings
- Oil-resistant gaskets and O-rings with low deterioration rates
- Sealed input gear plus a double-lipped output seal
- Complete sealing coverage to stop oil leaks
- Double-angular contact output bearings
- Roller idler and drive bearings for precise gear mesh
Frame Stiffener Strongly Recommended
The stock frame isn't built for 6-inch portals and monster tires. A frame stiffener reinforces it enough to ride hard without worry. Add it at checkout, or choose "No" if your machine already has one.
Why Choose 6 Inches?
The 6-inch portal hits a sweet spot for many mud and rock riders. It gives you noticeably more clearance than the 4-inch kit and fits up to 38-inch tires on stock suspension, yet keeps the center of gravity lower than the 8-inch kit. It's also the only height here offered with three gear reductions, so you can tune it closely to your tires, from a fast 30% trail setup to a 60% Dual Idler setup for the biggest mud tires.
Add 1.5-inch forward A-arms, a 3-inch lift or both, and the same portals support 40-43 inch tires as your build grows.
Wheel Planning
Portals need the right wheels. The 6-inch kit requires at least 18-inch wheels, wheels 20 inches and larger can't exceed 5 inches of backspacing, and the center bore needs to be 3.25 inches or larger unless you add a 1-inch spacer. Settle on wheels and tires before ordering so everything arrives ready to go together.
Ownership Tips
After installation, the speedometer will read differently because the tire size and gearing changed. Watch the portal boxes for seepage and keep the oil fresh, particularly if you ride deep water. Check hub and backing plate bolt torque after the first few rides, and inspect the steering arms and tie rods since big tires put more force through them. A power steering upgrade makes low-speed maneuvering on 38-inch and larger tires far easier, and heavier-duty ball joints are a smart addition at the same time.
Not Sure Which Setup?
With 28 possible combinations of seat count, housing, reduction, idler and stiffener, it's worth a quick conversation. Tell us your tire size, wheels and riding style, and we'll help you choose the gearing and options that make sense for your machine.
